Building Thermal Installer Course (RITE License)

    RITE LICENSE | COMPETENCES

The competencies granted by the Building Thermal Installer License (RITE) can be summarized as follows:

    • Authorizes the purchase, handling, and transportation of fluorinated gases (refrigerants) up to 3 kg.

    • Authorizes the installation of thermal equipment, such as heat pumps with a capacity greater than 5 kW, whether as a single unit or the combined total of multiple units. These installations must be registered with the relevant Industry authority, which requires a technical report prepared by a certified RITE installer.

    • Permits the legalization of domestic water supply installations.

    • Allows maintenance of ventilation systems, domestic hot water (DHW), heating, underfloor heating, aerothermal systems, air conditioning… in buildings such as hotels, residences…

RITE LICENSE | DIFFERENT WAYS TO OBTAIN THE RITE INSTALLER LICENSE

You can view the different options to obtain the license here.

    However, here is a summary:

OPTION 1. OBTAINING THE RITE LICENSE BY PASSING THE INDUSTRY EXAM

To be able to take the Industry exam, you must meet these two conditions:

    1. Have completed a 450-hour RITE training course at an accredited training center.
    2. Have at least 3 years of experience working in a RITE-related installation company.

However, in some autonomous communities, it is possible to pass the Industry exam first and then be given a 5-year period to present the required 3 years of experience. Only then would you be issued the license.

OPTION 2. OBTAINING THE RITE LICENSE BY PASSING THE CERTIFYING COMPANY EXAM

    1. To obtain the RITE license, you must pass an exam.
    2. To be eligible for the exam, you must complete a 450-hour RITE training course.
    3. The exam consists of a theoretical test + practical workshop exam.
    4. The exam is conducted by a certifying company, which, due to incompatibility, cannot be the same company that provided the 450-hour training course.
    5. You can view the different certifying companies here.
    6. You can see what the RITE exam by a certifying company is like here.

OPTION 3. OBTAINING THE RITE LICENSE BY INDUSTRY VALIDATION OF PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATES

    1. Which professional certificates are equivalent to the RITE license?

If you submit the following two professional certificates to the Industry Department for validation, they will send the RITE license to your home:

    • Assembly and Maintenance of Air Conditioning and Ventilation-Extraction Systems (IMAR0208)

    • Assembly and Maintenance of Heating Installations (IMAR0408)

    2. What options are available to obtain these two professional certificates?

2.1 Take them at a training school
If you attend a training school for just over a year, completing one certificate first and the other after, you will obtain both professional certificates.

2.2 Obtain them by professional competences accreditation
Professional competence accreditation is a process where you can apply by providing professional experience and/or non-formal courses of the areas you want to validate.

In this case, you must demonstrate to the interviewer that you have professional experience and/or courses that cover the full syllabus of both professional certificates.

RITE LICENSE | OBJECTIVES OF OUR 450-HOUR RITE INSTALLER COURSE

RITE LICENSE | INTERNSHIPS IN COMPANIES

We have collaboration agreements with gas companies so that students can complete internships. These internships are unpaid, and the schedule and duration are arranged between the student and the company. These companies are typically located in the Madrid region.
There is also the possibility for the student to find a company to carry out unpaid internships. In this case, cursodeinstalador.com would establish an agreement with the company.
